I studied at St. Petersburg Lyceum No. 30; after I entered ITMO, I actively joined the project activities at the university. As a first-year student, I started working in a group that specialized in electromagnetic harvesting. Although I had no background in antennas, I managed to master the basic theory and practices of antenna design thanks to the guidance of my supervisor. Together, we developed a prototype of an antenna for energy harvesting. The prototype never worked, but the experience was invaluable.

A year later, I joined a startup group where I first designed color-changing clothes and then a mechanism for a kinetic LED screen. Some technologies we produced were incorporated by the company Ledokol Plus.

Then, I switched again, this time to more complex engineering tasks. My teammates and I worked on creating a phase-gradient surface in the Ku-band for antenna pattern control as commissioned by Bureau 1440. In the course of the work, we regularly interacted with the company’s engineers. As part of the project, we also designed an antenna array with CST STUDIO.

By the end of my third year at the university, I was invited to do an internship at Bureau 1440 and also then was selected for another internship at YADRO, where I joined a team developing L1 physical layer algorithms for GSM/LTE/5G base stations. I’m planning to apply the engineering knowledge and skills I obtained at ITMO and I see plenty of opportunities to do so at the Faculty of Physics.
