About the program
The program trains future theorists and experimentalists, as well as interdisciplinary specialists at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and biology who can work with computational methods and machine learning.Here you’ll have classes taught by world-class physicists with publications in top-ranked international journals and all the opportunities to get published yourself, too.
During their studies, students can pick courses across various fields of physics, as well as chemistry, biology, and even programming.
The program offers six tracks (including five English-taught ones) to choose from:
Quantum Materials (in English) – theoretical methods for modeling materials in which multi-particle quantum correlations qualitatively change system properties.
Nanophotonics (in English) – analytical, numerical, and experimental methods in nanooptics.
Hybrid Materials (in English) – an interdisciplinary specialization perfect for students with various backgrounds (physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, etc.).
Computer Modeling of Quantum and Nanophotonic Systems (in English) – computational methods for nanophotonics and condensed matter physics.
Megascience (in Russian and English) – a track on megascience equipment for researchers and engineers in partnership with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR).
Integrated Photonics Technologies (in Russian) – a track for engineering and research leaders in the fields of photonic and optoelectronic devices. The track is implemented in partnership with top-tier research centers and high-tech companies.

Career
Having completed the program, you can:
– join a research team;
– win a grant and become a team lead;
– build a career as a research engineer at high-tech development departments;
– become a lecturer.
The program trains top researchers, development engineers, and project leads. Students find employment early in their studies – with the help of the faculty’s lecturers and their research supervisors.
