About the program

This online Master’s program by Yandex Practicum and ITMO University trains DevOps engineers who can work with cloud services. In it, you will learn to automate software development, testing, and setup, as well as design systems and robust cloud infrastructure.

The program is designed for tech and engineering majors along with junior IT specialists looking to expand their knowledge of cloud technologies and DevOps. It will also benefit non-specialists with a background of IT educational courses who wish to advance in DevOps engineering.

You’ll master the programming languages Python and Go, operating systems Unix/Linux, databases SQL and NoSQL, as well as CI/CD tools such as Git, GitLab, and Jenkins. Additionally, you’ll look into the full cycle of software development, algorithms and data structures, information security, and machine learning.

The program features practical training within individual and team projects from Yandex Cloud and other industrial partners of ITMO and Yandex Practicum. By the end of the course, you will have over 10 cases in your portfolio.

The program is delivered online, making it convenient for students to combine work and studies.

Is mentor support provided?
Yes, you’ll receive continuous support from experienced mentors and managers throughout your studies.

Can I combine studies and work? How many hours per week does it require?
You should be prepared to spend about 25 hours per week on your studies. All classes will be scheduled for weekday evenings or Saturday mornings. Lectures will be recorded.

Does the program offer tuition-free positions?
The program doesn’t offer tuition-free positions; it’s tuition-based only.

How are the studies organized?
The program is delivered entirely online via the Yandex Practicum platform; there, you will study theory and practice your skills.

Can I apply if I have no relevant background?
You can apply regardless of your Bachelor’s degree. The program offers introductory courses that will help you adapt and fill your knowledge gaps if needed.

What kind of diploma will I receive?
You’ll be granted a state-recognized Master’s diploma (11.04.02 Infocommunication Technologies and Communication Systems) and a retraining diploma by Yandex Practicum.

What projects are included in the curriculum?
You’ll get to work on academic and real-world projects, as well as your own projects under the supervision of your mentor for your portfolio.
