About the program

Are you curious about how different factors, be it diseases, the environment, work conditions, social status, or access to education, affect our health? Do you want to perform analytics or lead projects in the field of healthcare?

If so, the Public Health Sciences Master’s program is made just for you! The program includes two educational tracks: Public Health Sciences and Health Data Analytics. The first track will focus on research, while the second – on the structurization and analysis of big data in medicine. When applying to the program, prospective students need to select the track of their choice.

The program allows students to gain a deeper theoretical knowledge and practical skills in biostatistics and modern epidemiology, explore the principles of the evidence-based approach, and learn to write scientific papers. As part of the program, you will deal with real-world data and join in-house research projects, as well as learn to conduct studies recognized by the international scientific community and promote the evidence-based approach in medicine and other sciences.

Apart from treating their patients, clinicians need to take into account a wider context, namely, the data on which their solutions are based and the healthcare system they are a part of. I believe that I was most driven to study by my desire to be better at deciphering this context and, perhaps, influencing it.

FAQ

What language will the exam and admission contests be in?
Entrance exams are held in English; applications for our entrance contests must be filled out in English, as well.

Can I apply online?
Yes. If you want to apply online, you need to submit scanned copies of all the required documents via your personal account on the admissions website. You can learn how to do it here.

What is the language of instruction?
The program is conducted entirely in English: that goes for your classes and communication with your curator and teachers.

Can I combine work and studies?
You may get a job whilst studying and many students do so successfully. However, you should keep in mind that studies take lots of time and effort, especially when it comes to projects and home assignments. As the practice shows, trying to earn a degree while working full-time can be tough.

Can I apply for a contest and then take the entrance exam, if I don’t succeed?
Yes. You can take an entrance exam and/or make use of additional enrollment opportunities (read more about them here) but you can’t retake your exams or participate in a contest twice.

Do I need to provide a language proficiency certificate?
No, you don’t need to submit a proficiency certificate when applying for the program but you can attach your certificate if you’re going to enroll via the portfolio/pitch contest.

Which questions will I be asked at the exam?
At the exam, you will need to briefly write down your responses and orally answer two randomly chosen questions, as well as any follow-up questions from the interviewers. Note that this is an open-book exam, meaning that you can refer to textbooks, your class notes, and other allowed materials. However, you can't copy-paste answers – such papers will receive 0 points.
