The specialization Functional Safety of Critical Systems was a great choice for my studies. This is a new subject area that opens up previously-unexplored topics of research. At the core of its curriculum is functional safety that I opted for in my further research activities. As part of the program, students gain a profound understanding of the field’s regulatory framework, as well as hands-on experience in conducting experiments – from documentation development to actual trials and studies (system testing, verification, and validation) – studying market analysis methods, and designing fault-tolerant systems, including hardware development. The program is implemented in partnership with NIIAS. Classes are taught by both university lecturers and industry experts. Unlike others, the program is practice-oriented, meaning that students get to work on real-world projects at the Laboratory of Validation and Verification of Complex Technical Systems and the Swarm Mechanics Workshop and complete an internship with the program’s industrial partners.
