About the program
The program is designed for future developers who can fast-track to mid-level and senior researchers and architects in IT and AI.The program first launched in 1991 when Prof. Vladimir Vasilyev and Prof. Vladimir Parfenov established the Computer Technology Department at ITMO – one of Russia’s pioneering departments in IT. In 2000, the Information Technologies and Programming Faculty – a future research and educational leader in programming and software – was opened on the foundation laid by the department.
Among the faculty’s outstanding achievements are its exceptional performance in competitive programming, as well as the invention of the programming language Kotlin. The faculty’s students won the title of world ICPC champions seven times. ITMO graduates Andrey Breslav and Roman Elizarov led the development team behind Kotlin. Graduates of the faculty launched over 50 successful IT companies, with some recognized globally. Among the graduates is also Gennady Korotkevich, the legend of competitive programming.
The faculty partners up with all big tech leaders (Yandex, VK, Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, T-Bank, Avito, and others), which offer specialized training for students, including courses, internships, employment opportunities for third- and fourth-years, and stipends. Over 150 experts from Russia’s top-tier IT companies teach at the faculty.
Computer Technologies is part of the national top-level IT and AI 360 programs.
